Rediscovery of Methylene Blue: The Science of Bluelene®

Methylene blue, first synthesized in 1876, is a diamino phenothiazine with remarkable effects on electron transport within our body. This unique element has the ability to enter intracellular compartments including mitochondria, lysosomes and cell nuclei. In nanomolar concentrations, methylene blue manifests as a powerful antioxidant, significantly contributing to slowing down the skin aging process. Dr. Kan Cao's groundbreaking discovery of the benefits of methylene blue for skin aging was published in Nature Scientific Reports and received praise from the scientific community. Her groundbreaking work earned her a nomination as a finalist for Invention of the Year at the University of Maryland and was noted in leading media such as Cosmetics Design and Allure.
