Hormones

Hormones are signaling substances that function as messengers in our bodies. The term "hormone" comes from the Greek word hormao , which literally means "to set in motion," "to arouse," or "to excite." They are produced by various glands in our body and transported via the bloodstream to target cells and organs, where they contribute to their functions. A balanced hormonal balance is therefore crucial for a well-functioning body.

Hormones and balance

For the body to function properly, it's crucial that hormones and the endocrine system are in balance. A natural and wholesome diet, drinking enough water, relaxation, regular exercise, and a healthy circadian rhythm support this balance; unhealthy lifestyle patterns can disrupt hormones and cause both physical and mental health issues. There are dozens of hormones, including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, insulin, growth hormone, thyroid hormone, DHEA, and melatonin. They are produced in glands such as the pineal gland, hypothalamus, pituitary gland, thyroid, adrenal glands, pancreas, ovaries, and testicles. Broadly speaking, we distinguish between amino acid hormones (protein hormones, peptides, and amines) and lipid hormones (steroid hormones). An imbalance can have various causes.

Hormonal support

Various supplements can provide support for hormonal fluctuations, such as basic nutrients (e.g., vitamin D, B vitamins, magnesium), omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and adaptogens (such as ashwagandha or rhodiola). In addition, there are glandular supplements containing freeze-dried organs or glandular extracts, for example, from the adrenal gland, thyroid, or testicle. These products provide naturally occurring proteins, peptides, and glycosaminoglycans, substances that play a role in our bodies as building blocks of tissues and as signaling molecules. Proteins are composed of amino acids and form the basic structure of muscles and enzymes, as well as many hormones. Peptides are shorter chains of amino acids that often convey a very specific biological message, such as stimulating cell growth or regulating energy processes. Organ-based supplements aim to provide these natural substances in a concentrated form.

Always consult your doctor or therapist before using hormone-supporting supplements. Before use, carefully read the product descriptions on the website. Would you like to discuss this with us first? You can, of course.
