Better Sleep According to Dr. Andrew Huberman

Dr. Huberman is a global phenomenon when it comes to gathering medical information, distilling the key points, and developing it into a practical routine.

Supplements to Improve Sleep

Dr. Huberman recommends the following supplements. You might consider taking the following (30-60 minutes before bedtime):

  • 145 mg Magnesium Threonate or 200 mg Magnesium Bisglycinate
  • 50 mg Apigenin
  • 100-400 mg Theanine
(3-4 nights per week, he also takes 2 g Glycine and 100 mg GABA.)

Recommendation: Start with one supplement (or none at all) and then add one at a time as needed. Some people don’t need any supplements, while others may benefit from theanine but not magnesium. Discover what works best for you.

Note: Avoid taking theanine if you experience extremely vivid dreams, sleepwalking, or nightmares.

Warning: About 5% of people may experience an upset stomach from magnesium supplements. If that happens to you, stop taking them.
